May begins in Comillas… and it shows.

Hello everyone!

May arrives, and with it that time of year when Comillas truly begins to stir. The days lengthen, the green intensifies, and the Cantabrian breeze is still there (fresh, honest, Cantabrian) but no longer biting.

It’s a month that invites you to go out, to walk without haste and to discover every corner while strolling.

In this first post, I want to give you some ideas for enjoying the month, the opening hours of the monuments and, of course, the guided tours.

If you want to stay up to date with everything that happens in the town, the best thing to do is consult the Comillas Tourist Office website (www.comillas.es), where they update the agenda with activities and events.

Plans for May:

May is perfect for combining simple plans. A stroll along the Comillas coastal route is always a good choice: sea, cliffs, and time to disconnect.

If you’re visiting as a family, the Marco Topo game is a fun way to explore the town with children. It’s available at the Tourist Office.

On weekends, El Capricho de Gaudí organizes family visits with a workshop, a good option if you are looking for something different.

You can also visit the El Espolón Cultural Centre, where there are two exhibitions this month:The journey of the desert womenby Ana Valiño, andStrokes and lights, by Alicia de Paz Valle.

Every Friday there’s a market in the historic center. It’s one of those simple things you always want to do: stroll around, browse, and soak up the town’s atmosphere.

And to wrap things up, on Sunday the 10th, the Villa de Comillas Trail takes place, a race that runs through some of the most beautiful landscapes in the area. That day there’s more activity and a different atmosphere.
